First, we believe in the value of fundamental investing over that of a passive Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) strategy. We believe that getting a deeper understanding of the businesses we invest in and not overpaying for these businesses sets the foundation for our success. Choosing an ETF strategy your investments gets lumped into a fund, most times holding over 100 stocks plus. Exposures become obscure and over the long term, fees paid for this service derails your compounding return.

Secondly, our goal is to invest in 20 to 25 names that can generate an attractive return over the course of three years or more. We are buying an ownership interest in some high-quality businesses at very attractive valuations. Buying at a lower multiple and good growth should bode well for future returns.

We have focused on purchasing quality businesses which generally have a high degree of predictability. We have developed detailed models for each one of our positions driving our goal to generate attractive absolute returns. Given that essentially all our companies are cash generative, in times of market volatility, they can take advantage of this discount by repurchasing their shares until the market appropriately values them. Despite a strong overall stock market, we think our opportunity set is quite attractive right now, as we believe our portfolio currently has an attractive risk to reward ratio.
